70th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry
Electrochemistry: Linking Resources to Sustainable Development
The 70th Annual ISE Meeting were held in Durban, South Africa from 4 to 9 August 2019. The meeting was hosted at the Durban International Convention Centre (Durban ICC). Durban, a coastal city in eastern South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province, is known for its African, Indian and colonial influences.
This great event held up 20 symposiums and several masterclasses, covering topics from Analytical Electrochemistry; Batteries; Supercapacitors; Electrochemistry of Nanomaterials and Electrocatalysis, among others.
Artur Braun from our partner Empa introduced SUNRISE during his Keynote talk (Intermediates in PEC Water Oxidation. How they come and how they go), also did so Renata Solarska from University of Warsaw at her Keynote talk (Photo-Induced Charge Carriers Dynamics in Solar Semiconducting Systems), both of them at Symposium 4 – Renewable Energy and Photo-Electrochemistry.
In addition, some of our supporters were also at the event, for instance Sophia Haussener (EPFL) delivered a great talk: “Thermal synergies in photo-electrochemical fuel processing – concepts, designs and demonstrations“, at Symposium 4, about how the infrared part of the solar spectrum can be integrated in her newly patented water splitting reactor with record efficiencies.
